چکیده

Drought is primarily an agricultural phenomenon that refers to conditions where plants are responsive certain levels of moisture stress affect both the vegetative growth and yield crops. It occurs when supply stored in soil insufficient meet optimum need a particular type crop. Causes drought Bangladesh related climate variability non-availability surface water resources. While it may be possible indicate immediate cause location, often not identify underlying cause. Therefore, improve all these services favour enhancing production reducing food insecurity Bangladesh, mandatory develop effective way for disseminating SPI data indicating indices farmers, enhance resilience. To future plan policy sector vital understand previous droughts events with accurate indicators. Since this study will contribute development therefore there obvious change frequency over using standardized index. The main intention project prepare proper baseline forecasting data. So, final outcome would knowledge base tools dissemination networks can updated/developed farmers.

Analyzing Iran’s Local and Regional Droughts Using the Theory of Runs and Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI)

The primary objective of the present study is the investigation of the various properties of Iran’s local and regional droughts based on the theory of runs and standardized precipitation index (SPI). Thus, in order to accomplish this goal, the annual precipitation data of 63 synoptic stations were procured from Iran’s meteorological organization for a 30-year period (1986-2015).. First, based o...

GIS analysis for vulnerability assessment of drought in Khuzestan province in Iran using standardized precipitation index (SPI)

The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) is a widely used drought index to provide good estimations of the intensity, magnitude and spatial extent of droughts. The objective of this study was to analyze the spatial pattern of drought by SPI index. In this paper, patterns of drought hazard in Khuzestan are evaluated according to the data of 17 weather stations during data recording. The influe...

Drought Analysis for Kuwait Using Standardized Precipitation Index

Implementation of adequate measures to assess and monitor droughts is recognized as a major matter challenging researchers involved in water resources management. The objective of this study is to assess the hydrologic drought characteristics from the historical rainfall records of Kuwait with arid environment by employing the criterion of Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI). A wide range of...

Application of the ARIMA Models in Drought Forecasting Using the Standardized Precipitation Index

The standardized precipitation index (SPI) was used to quantify the classification of drought in the Guanzhong Plain, China. The autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) models were developed to fit and forecast the SPI series. Most of the selected ARIMA models are seasonal models (SARIMA). The forecast results show that the forecasting power of the ARIMA models increases with the incre...
